This was my first time ever doing a show outside of college. It was a pretty amazing experience. I met some great artists along the way and best of all got a chance to showcase my work and discuss it with others. I'm not sure I can even explain how I felt about seeing my work in a public space and working in unity. I am really happy about this experience. I would definitely do this again, and hopefully I will next year! It's such a great way for emerging artists to be able to show work. The experience really made me want to try and show off my work more often! I hope to apply to a couple local galleries in the near future. Why not try right!? I know there are some things I need to work on, like the overall display, and I really need to improve the way I talk about my art. I am very willing to learn and try harder though. I think this showcase was the extra push I needed to realize how much I just want to show off all the hard work I have done. I also loved communicating and having discussions with viewers and other artists. I learned a lot. I'd recommend submitting your things if you've ever wanted to show off your work. They welcome all kinds of artists! Categories include but are not limited to visual art, performance art, music, makeup, hair, etc.
These photos are all from the official Raw photographer here in Des Moines, Elizabeth Carrie. She is incredible! She was able to capture so much! You can view A LOT more photos on flickr here and on her website here.
Have you been to a RAW Artist event in your area!? Tell me about your experiences.
