Recently, I was contacted by Fair Ivy to review an item. I just got my surprise package yesterday, and I absolutely adore it. It's a dainty handmade heart bracelet from A Brilliant Impression just in time for Valentine's Day! I actually got the chance to wear it out to dinner last night.

Let me tell you a little more about Fairy Ivy. It's a great company that you can subscribe to, where they will send you 2-4 handmade surprises monthly. All the surprise products are unique, and it is tailored towards women. It would be a great gift for yourself or for a friend!

All of the surprise products are created by handmade artists, and the items are handwrapped! For me, it's all about the little things, the heart sticker inside the package and the pretty gold wrapping paper was so nice. I would highly recommend them!

The Midwest: God's Gift to Planet Earth

I got the chance to receive an advanced look at the book, The Midwest: God's Gift to Planet Earth from the team at Raygun.  It's extremely witty, hilarious, sarcastics and actually taught me quite a few things about the Midwest, I never knew a long the way. It includes the history and culture of the Midwest, name-dropping of celebrities and even superheroes that came straight out of the Midwest, talking about our niceness, and so much more.

My favorite segment was probably about how "Midwest nice" differs from the other regions, these are my favorite quotes from that section:

"Midwest nice is a true niceness. Not a pitch for conversation, not just adding a "please" after "shut the fuck up" Part of our niceness comes out of being genuinely happy with our lives."

"Midwest nice has an almost Zen-line serenity, a laid-back air you expect on the West Coast more than the Midwest. People walk a little slower here. They take their time. Cooler heads often prevail"

This niceness has always made me proud to be a Midwesterner. Although there is a lot of humor within the book, it is 100% written with Midwest Pride. I hope that you have time to pick up your own copy or even stop by at a book launch event! It's truly great.

What's even better about this book is that all materials used to make this book are from the Midwest and it was printed here. Everything you've ever wanted to know about Midwest is in this book. What are you waiting for? Get your copy here.

What do you think? Would you purchase this book?

Black Swan

So I just went and saw Black Swan tonight. A little late to see it, I know, but I absolutely loved it, especially the grainy picture and the emotional impact. The movie was definitely a trip gone wrong. It freaked me out because I was watching a delicate person plunging into insanity because of her obsession with perfection. Rodarte did an amazing job on the costumes. I was completely blown away. Also that dress that Natalie Portman wore when she was announced as the new Swan Queen at the party was breathtaking.
