February Air

what i wore: black sweater, magenta tights, and lace skirt from Target, light blue patterned tank from Wet Seal, wide braided tan Jessica Simpson Collection belt from Dillard's and charcoal Restricted boots from Endless

It's the last day of February! That means spring is just around the corner! I'm so excited about this!

I wanted to go for some color today as well as a very girly, polished look, so I figured why not break out the magenta tights, black lace skirt and a high bun to top it off.

So, I have a 2 year anniversary coming up with my boyfriend this coming Sunday, and I have no idea what we should do! Do any of you have any suggestions? (We want to keep in low budget)

I feel animated today

what i wore: chestnut Vince Camuto boots from Dillards, black pants, red button up and vest from Forever 21

I wanted to go for a cute, structured look today. I don't normally wear red, but I've been wanting to for some time now! I felt so animated though probably due to the pop of red and the adorable cartoon-like detailing. Also the fact that as I was walking around campus with headphones I felt like I was listening to my life's soundtrack. I think I'm just really strange sometimes!

Anyways, my boyfriend is slowly but surely moving stuff into my house. It's exciting! I cannot wait to use the whole basement once again! I was also really inspired by some Japanese Ukiyo-e art slides we viewed in Art History today. I think I might try mimicking some of the aspects of it! At first, it was just the gorgeous patterns many artists used that caught my eye, but I don't know, I just really enjoy most art anyways and have always been pretty fascinated with Japanese art and culture.

Pretty black bow

what i wore: black ruffle cardigan from Forever 21, light gray cord Hue leggings and H.I.P. black and white bow top from Dillards, and black Blowfish wedges from DSW

I decided to go with a black, white and gray look today. Basically it's a simple, casual, and girly outfit and very easy to pull off. I just bought this top yesterday and immediately picked it out to wear today! I was really craving simplicity today yet I needed a feminine touch so that's where the bow and ruffles come in.

Also, I got these cord leggings for $5.00 yesterday, isn't that great? Of course they had other colors and of course I bought three pairs. They are so comfortable, and like my boyfriend told me this morning make my butt look nice.

I'm not sure why, but I've been so tired today. I think I need to sleep less sometimes. Eight hours does not work for me!

Do you know your perfect sleep schedule? If so, help me!

We've got one chance to break out

mixed tweed, floral and black BCBG Generation jacket and chestnut lace-up Vince Camuto boots from Dillard's, black pants and black and white striped tee from Forever 21, and cross-body black and brown bag thrifted

I went shopping today with my friend Sarah! I got this jacket and these boots on sale as well as plenty of other things! I'm not going to share with you what I purchased, because I like introducing new pieces to outfits when I can and plus it'd be a very long post. Anyways, it's weird, I'm not usually a fan of jackets such as this one, mixing tweed, floral print and bold black sleeves, but once I tried it on I fell in love and I started to imagine what else I could wear with it, such as solid colored dressed and colored tights! I'm so excited to see what else I can come up with for this jacket. Also, once I bought the jacket and boots I put them on right away, I tend to do that a lot, but, this time is seriously just went so well with what I was already wearing!

TIP OF THE DAY: Don't be afraid to try on styles you may not like at first glance! Sometimes they turn out to be a great addition to your wardrobe!

Oh and if you're wondering about the title, it's from a song by The Academy Is... called Black Mamba from their album Almost Here. It popped up on my ipod today when it was on shuffle and it brought back some memories. I used to love this album, I'd play it on repeat over and over when I first heard it, and honestly, I still like it!

Anyways, I need to start selling some of my clothes soon, when I do, I'll be sure to let you all know! And by the way I've really appreciated all the comments and support I've gotten on this blog, whether you read my content and respond, you take inspiration from my outfits, or you just like my personal style! I really really cannot thank you all enough!

My lust is just convenient now

what i wore: gray and white mixed leopard cardigan from Delia's, taupe pleated button up shirt from Heritage 1981, dusty charcoal gray jeans and Dolce Vita lace-up black boots from Target, and belt taken from another top

I wanted to go for a casual yet slightly edgy look, so I went for the leopard print (it has flecks of a light gray sprinkled about) and lace-up boots for the edgy part and the taupe top and dusty gray jeans added as neutrals.

Oh and I used my old girly curtains as a background! I think they are adorable!

Also here are pictures with my hair down so you can see how it looks since I dyed it! I missed a couple small areas and this is what I get for doing it on my own, but I used two boxes (because I have so much hair!) of Revlon Color Silk # 10 in Black and I loved it. The conditioner was wonderful and left y hair so silky and soft! I'd highly recommend it! Anyways, I'll probably do some touch up on the areas I've missed somewhat soon. I think I did a pretty good job though!

I apologize for not posting yesterday, but I didn't really go anywhere or do much, my boyfriend and I just stayed in for a lovely day together since the weather is getting a bit colder once again! I cannot wait for this to end and for the weather to be better!

What do you think of the hair color? Do you like it better back, or I guess before black?

Double date night

what i wore: roses dress from Francesca's Collection, black braided stretch belt from Francesca's Collection, black tights, white socks, and faux wooden heels from Target

I wanted to go for a classy look tonight, and I think this hits the spot! This dress has a lovely red rose pattern accompanied by taupe vines and leaves. I cannot get enough of these shoes!

So I'm going on a double date tonight with my boyfriend obviously and one my of best friends and hers. I'm so excited! This is my first double date ever! And this will be my second time ever meeting her boyfriend (the first was just a quick introduction) so that's exciting too!

Oh, and I dyed my hair all black last night, I'm sorry I don't have a clearer picture of it, but you'll see it soon enough! I decided to try this adorable milkmaid braids hairstyle that I got from being inspired by Rebecca from The Clothes Horse, you can find her simply adorable tutorial here.

Check out my flickr for more pictures from this photoshoot I did myself here.
Do you guys have any cute braid tutorials you know of? Let me know! I love braids!

And for my lips I used Revlon's Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick in Siren mixed with Mac's lipstick in Shy Girl.

A taste of spring

what i wore: multi-colored floral Liberty of London top and polka dot sheer tights from Target, aqua cardigan from Old Navy, thin braided belt from another top, brown pin-striped shorts from I have no idea where, pink sunnies from Forever 21 ($1.50!) and Minnetonka Tramper booties from Shopbop

So, today the temperature almost reached 70 degrees! Crazy, I know. It felt like Spring heading into Summer. I embraced this lovely weather by wearing these bright colors! Also I received these new boots in the mail yesterday and already, I know they will be incorporated into my future outfits quite often! I seriously have been gushing over these boots for such a long time, I finally gave in and bought them for myself as a present for losing 6 pounds! So I'm feeling a 70s vibe from this lovely blouse that Liberty of London designed for Target, I'm so glad I snatch up a few pieces from that line! The florals are so funky and fresh! I also wanted to be a little quirky today!

I took some inspiration from The Glamourai's Kelly and mixed the floral print with polka dot tights. She's so amazing at mixing patterns!

Oh and by the way, Shopbop.com is offering free next day shipping for the remainder of February! So, take advantage of it, if you want!

Another thing, the Minnetonka tramper booties run a bit big, so I'd suggest ordering a size down if you want them to fit true to size. I ordered a 7, which is my normal size, but I like the extra wiggle room sometimes!

Tan, Taupe and Navy

what i wore: taupe cardigan w/ black detailing from H&M, white tights and ivory lace skirt from Target, dark gray lace-up Restricted wedges from Endless, navy ruffled button-up shirt and tan skirt from Heritage 1981, and braided Jessica Simpson stretch belt from Dillard's

I wanted to stray from black today, since it was so nice out and sometimes you just needs an outfit sans black, well some black snuck in on the detailing of the cardigan, but otherwise no black! It's a hard thing to do for me, especially as of lately! And I also tried white tights... I know I should have used a different background, but I have a paper to write! An English paper to be exact, but it shouldn't be too difficult, I'm just very easily distracted! Anyways, my boyfriend is moving in with me soon, and I am very excited about this! I can't stand sleeping alone anymore (on the occasions I do). Anyways, once again, I need to figure out more hairstyles, or else I need to cut my hair. These horrible tangles are so annoying. I wake up with more and more each day even when I brush it the day before.

Any suggestions on hair? How can I maintain my long hair better? HELP!

The way I see it

what i wore: light blue-gray pleated button up shirt from Heritage 1981, black cardigan from Delias, black Blowfish wedges from DSW, braided belt from another shirt, mustard tights from Forever 21, and knee-high socks from Target

So, I like to look at my outfits like a composition in an art piece. I like to create a repetition of elements like the solid black that is obviously repeated that you can see. And then the darkness of the black also brings out the brighter mustard and color as well as the lighter colored shirt. I just wanted to explain my outfit a little more intellectually today! Anyways, I need to get more knee-high socks, if you couldn't tell I only have black and a few gray  pairs that I cannot seem to find. Oh, and as you can see in the top pictures, my boyfriend surprised me with chocolate and a hilarious card with a dog on it (he knows what I like). Anyways, we had agreed we weren't going to get each other anything, but it was a nice surprise. It always is a little hectic from January to March, because first, it's my birthday in January, then in the beginning of February it's his, then Valentine's Day, then in the first week of March it's our anniversary (It'll be two years soon, so exciting!). So, there's a lot of money spending around these three months, but of course I don't really have any money, so this year we're keeping the presents and such relaxed.

So many hearts

what i wore: black and white hearts dress from H&M, black knee-high socks and red sheer tights from Target, belt taken from another shirt, and black buckle flats from Steve Madden.

I decided to dress slightly festively for Valentine's Day today with the red tights and dress with hearts on it. I feel like I'd be able to wear this outfit any time as well though. I wish I had a red belt though, this neutral color was the best I could find. Maybe, I could have found a better choice. Also I'm a new fan of the side bun. It's easy and it's adorable. I wish my bangs would grow faster though, I'm really, really tired of them. So, like I stated in my last post, my boyfriend and I aren't big on Valentine's day. Besides the fact I have class tonight, we're not really celebrating. I mean it's nice to celebrate love, I guess, but we can do cute things for each other ANY day of the year, right? I feel like even though I'm not single, this holiday just makes people that are single miserable. It's so nice out today! Well it's above freezing, which makes it amazing!

How do you spend Valentine's Day?

Early Valentine's Day dinner

what i wore: pale pink lace dress w/ peter pan collar from Heritage 1981, black tights and black knee-high socks from Target, and Dollhouse black wedges w/ faux wood detail from Endless

I bought this dress for my birthday, but at the time it didn't fit the best, but it's fitting better now! I love the peter pan collar and this dress has such a vintage feel. Anyway, so my boyfriend and I made last minute plans to have Valentine's Day dinner early because I have class tomorrow night, so we went to Ruby Tuesday. It's a pretty decent place and it's close by to my house, which helps. Another thing is, I'm not that huge on Valentine's day and neither is he. Last year, I wanted the cliches because it was our first Valentine's day together and my first with a boyfriend. So, he also wanted me to mention he didn't get dressed up. I still think he looks adorable, no matter what. Oh and Bella of course decided to sneak in on our pictures. I also convinced him to do a splatter/drip painting with me sometime in the future. For me, it's a dedication to Jackson Pollock and I want to be able to be in the painting and see the energy protruding from the painting itself. Anyways, it's also a nice way for me to introduce him into a part of my world. I'm excited.

So any of you have any special Valentine's day plans?

black blue indigo

Black dress, blue tights, indigo cardigan with ruffles, and Dolce Vita black lace-up boots from Target

First off, I'd like to tell you all that I've lost 6 pounds so far in a month on Weight Watchers. I'm so excited (if you can't already tell from my last picture)!

So, I didn't even realize it until this moment that my whole outfit is from Target! Anyways, I wanted to add some color to this little black dress and this is how it turned out. I also added some color on my lips (Maybelline Color Sensational lip stain in bitten berry and some Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush red tinted lip gloss).

What are your favorite lip colors and products? I could use some more suggestions!

Double outfit post

what i wore (yesterday): patterned dress from Forever 21, brown tights and tan knee-high boots from Target, and tan cardigan (secondhand Gap) from Plato's Closet.

what i wore (today): red and navy striped cardigan from Heritage 1981, Yellow top w/ floral detail and dark wash denim appearance leggings from Forever 21, Black lace-up Dolce Vita boots from Target.

I neglected to post yesterday, so I apologize for the double entry. So yesterday I wore this lovely patterned dress I've never worn before, I really like the fit out it and I think it's darling. I will definitely be wearing it more. Today, I wanted to go for primary colors and I think it turned out pretty well! It's a pretty casual outfit, but sometimes casual just works well. So I mentioned (I think) that I entered my Crane Sculpture and Daisy sculpture into a Juried Exhibition at my school but alas, they did not make it in (you can see pictures of my sculptures here). Strangely, I'm fine with it. I understand that there are a variety of different tastes in art (from what I hear, it was just one person that judged this competition) and I really like my sculptures and as of now, that's all that's important. I do want to get better though, and my hopes aren't shot yet! Hopefully I can enter again next year!

Are any of you artists? I'd love to see your work!

Time for fun

what i wore: red sweater, olive pants, and gray knee-high boots from Target, lace shirt is a gift from a friend, indigo dress from Forever 21, and floral belt taken from another shirt

So I thought I might take some fun pictures today. At least, more of a variety of poses! Anyway, I have been extremely tired all day because I had to do a lot of Art History reading, but I feel a lot better now. I'm already exhausted from school, and I don't even get a summer break, really, because I'm going to take 4 classes, just to get some things out of the way. The weather was -8 this morning when I woke up, I cannot wait for this to be over!

Pink Polka Dots

what i wore: taupe cardigan with black detailing from H&M, navy blue with pink polka dots dress from Fabrik, black skirt from Target, periwinkle wide belt from United Colors of Benetton, patterned tights from Forever 21, and gray ankle buckle boots from Wet Seal

I honestly threw this outfit together in about fifteen minutes this morning. My hair was a mess, so I put it up in a messy bun and I know it could look better, but like I've said before, I'm just experimenting with my hair (I don't know a lot about how to style it and such). Anyways, I got this dress from Fabrik a boutique by Jordan Creek Mall and I fell in love with it when I first got it. It's a little short and pretty tight towards the bottom so I just paired it with another skirt which reminds me, I need more skirts (or at least more variety as well as simple ones). I have an Astronomy Lab tonight, and I'm actually a little excited to see what we're going to do. It's almost three hours though, but at least it's only one day of the week and I chose Monday, just so I can have the rest of my nights.

Anyway, I'd like to say thanks to all my new followers! I'm so glad I have some support, and even though there's only 22 of you right now. I'm very proud of this!

Also, sorry for the lack of variety in the backgrounds lately. The scenery around my home is very boring and it's been really cold outside!

Family CelebrAsian

what i wore: a slouchy cream knit hat and denim appearance leggings from Forever 21, a black cardigan and navy blue tank top from Delias, a black sheer black top w/ white floral detail from Express, and gray buckle ankle boots from Wet Seal

So Thursday, February 3rd was Chinese New Year and as a family we weren't able to celebrate until today. It's weird, I don't usually attend family events because, I'm not sure, most of the time I feel like I don't fit in with them. But, I'm going to make more of an effort, I guess. There's not much more I can do. The thing I do love about these things is the food. There's so much yummy authentic Chinese food. There are dumplings, duck, Chinese greens, rice, and etc. It's hard not to eat a little bit of everything. I also like how everyone contributes to this amazing food pile. Anyway, This is what I wore to the family get together. I know it's not very festive, but we don't really dress up to go to these things, they're suppose to be informal and comfortable and that how I dressed. The sheer black top with white floral accents is probably one of my favorite tops because it's so versatile.

Tell me about your family celebrations! What's your favorite part about them?

Sometimes messy hair works

what i wore: a black cardigan, gray printed feather v-neck tee, floral romper, and black leggings from Target, a tan woven belt (Jessica Simpson Collection) from Dillard's and flat gray buckled ankle boots from Wet Seal

Usually, I lay out my clothes the night before but I was too tired last night. I threw this outfit together starting with the black leggings. I don't own a lot of shorts and I really wanted to wear this romper. So I threw a t-shirt over it. I don't know, I just love experimenting.

My boyfriend took yesterday and today off work so he could get a four day weekend for his birthday. We spent the day watching a Canada criminal drama called Intelligence. Oh and I have lost almost 5 pounds in one month with weight watchers! Also, my hair is always a mess, so I just put it up in a messy bun today. I need quick new hairstyles besides just a bun and down. I want to try braids but I'm not very good at putting braids in my hair. Does anyone have any suggestions? Links?
