Thrifted goodies: books and bags

Found these lovelies at Goodwill and that small beaded purse at Second Act. I might decide to sell some of these purses, and I cannot wait to try out that adorable medium sized backpack. As I've mentioned I'm going to make these lovely Reader's Digest Condensed books to make little jewelrey boxes, by hollowing out the inside! If they turn out well, I might sell them!

What do you think?

Tire swings and dog walks

what i wore: light tan button up dress and multi-colored belt thrifted from Second Act, black faux leather jacket from H&M, Baku wedges from Blowfish, and gray flats from Old Navy

So, this was Saturday's outfit. I got this dress when we went thrifting the day before at a consignment shop called Second Act. It was filled with lovely vintage, costume, and secondhand goodies! Anyways I feel in love with the red cage-like detail on the sleeves and the dress fit perfectly. Coincidentally, this belt was wrapped around this dress and it accents it wonderfully, so I had to get both.

I wore this dress to the graduation party David's parents had for his brother's graduation. They got 96 bagels, and so much food! We got to take a few bagels home yesterday, when we left, haha. Anyways, it was a great party, very well decorated, I must say; I might post picture later. They got three cakes! Anyways, we have been taking Zoey and Bandana and plenty of walks while we're here and we found this tire swing and decided to take some pictures. I have had such a wonderful time this past few days! Now back to reality and my online classes.

I hope you all have a Happy Monday!

Vertical stripes and dots

what i wore: Gap tan cardigan and white and blue vertical striped skirt (made from shorts) thrifted, pink and navy polka dot dress, Jessica Simpson Collection caramel belt from Dillard's, baku wedges from Blowfish

Hello my lovely readers. I hope you are having a lovely Sunday morning. Here are a few shots of my outfit from Friday! I love mixing prints and what better prints to mix than stripes and dots, right?! The adorable skirt I am wearing was originally a pair of weird looking shorts. I decided to do a DIY project and make it into a skirt. I should have taken pictures, but it's the first time, I've done anything with actual sewing, besides practicing! It's not the best quality (sewing-wise) but I'm proud! I will fix it when I better my sew skills.

REMIX: To classy up for dinner, I remixed this polka dot dress (last worn here) and tan cardigan with my beige accordian midi skirt (last worn here), and my black garrens (last worn here).

Anyways, I'm sad that we're leaving today, David's family is so great and I'm going to miss Bandana as well! I love this pup! Anyways, David and I spent over an hour fixing a hot tub that turned out to have a leak, and we also discovered a baby chipmunk under the side panel of the hot tub, so I guess it wasn't a waste! It was too adorable. I couldn't get a clear picture of it though! Then David and I went thrifting, first at Goodwill, where I got a couple goodies, and then this consignment shop called Second Act. I got some lovelies from there too, including a dress that will be coming up in my next post! I loved this shop, it was huge and there were so many rooms filled with things, I fell in love with the place! Then we all went to Mekong which includes a variety Vietnamese, Chinese, and Thai dishes. I got the pad thai and it was delicious! It was David's brother's graduation dinner, and there was about 16 people in a little private room, it was a lot of fun!

Must love dogs

what i wore: white maxi dress from Style Sofia, baku wedges from Blowfish, navy blue crossbody bag thrifted, black dress slip and tan belt from Target, and dual tone circle sunnies from OC Shades

I really apologize for the lack of photos of my outfit from yesterday. We were just super busy right as we arrived in Iowa City. I met David's grandma and uncle for the first time. His grandma is so cute and tried to get me to dislike David's beard, but, what can I say? I'm a beardlovin' gal! I can't help myself!

Zoey is the King Charles Spaniel pictured above, she is super adorable and it's so cute when she drinks from the water bowl, because her ears are so long they get wet at the tips, and she's just too cute and Bandana is that lovely golden retriever. He is just a lovable oaf. He loves getting pet, is not very into walks, and likes to get up in your space. I don't mind though! I mean, look at that face!

So, today was David's little brother's high school graduation. We had an early dinner which was delicious. I wish I could show you pictures, but I was starving! We had a spread of yummy brisket, salad, corn, strawberries, raspberries, watermelon, asparagus, and pineapple. Then we headed to the arena where the graduation was held. I forgot how long and boring these things were! Anyways, I'm super happy for him! It's a big step. I can barely remember my high school graduation, but it was about three years ago! After the graduation we went to Coldstone. I got the delicious Lemon Poppy Seed ice cream mixed with yellow cake and graham crackers in a chocolate dipped and sprinkled cone bowl. It was so delicious!

I'm having a really lovely time here so far, and I hope the rest of this weekend goes this well! I decided to wear this white maxi (last worn here), because I just really wanted to wear it again, but this time I belted it with a tawny colored belt, and wore my new Blowfish Baku wedges, and of course covered up with a tan cardigan since it was so chilly and to stick with my neutral trend!

Playground fun

what i wore: DIY studded denim vest, floral top from H&M, caramel Hue cord leggings from Dillard's, black fringe Who We See boots from Urban Outfitters, and navy cross body bag thrifted

So yesterday, Brooke and I went thrifting, and I found a lot of really cute purses! One of them Is a large clutch-like bag that I'm going to paint on! One of them is a small backpack with a cute circle pattern! I cannot wait to show them off. I might sell some of them too in my store. Be sure to check back often! I also found this amazing sequin jacket that is a present for one of my friends. I found Brooke a Tucker dress! It's so adorable. My boyfriend and I are also headed to Iowa City for his brother's graduation and a little weekend getaway, I'm excited to explore the thrift stores there and scope out great backdrops for pictures!

Anyways, I decided to go for a somewhat edgy look today. I paired my DIY studded denim vest with a floral top to soften up the look and the rest just came together! My bangs are in the phase where they are too long to go straight across and too short to push to the side, and I am really loving this middle part hair style. I think I might keep it, and maybe do some variations of it maybe.

I also bought a lot of books with cute designs on them (most of them are Reader's Digest Condensed Books, which are adorable) and I'm going to hollow them out and make them into jewelry boxes! I will be sure to post a DIY Be sure to look out for it!

We decided to stop at this little park on the way back from a our little thrift adventure. I felt like a little kid again playing around on this playground. It was funny because there was no one around because a storm was brewing!

Three Cairns by Andy Goldsworthy

what i wore: red button up top and tribal patterned dress from Forever 21, patterned flats from American Eagle, and braided dark brown feather headband from Target

So yesterday Megan and I had lunch at a Vietnamese restaurant in Des Moines called Pho 888, and we both got the pho of course (view her blog here, and her spotlight post here). It was delicious! I'm sorry we devoured our soup bowls so quickly, I did not take any pictures! We also had delicious bubble tea, I got strawberry and she got Taro. Anyways, afterward we decided to go to the Art Center and visit the "Three Cairns" by Andy Goldworthy, who is one of my favorite artists! I love taking pictures in these egg-shaped imprints. They are one of my favorite things about Des Moines. You'll probably see more pictures from this area!

If you are interested in this piece by Andy Goldsworthy, click here. I would highly recommend reading this short article! It's very interesting.

Anyways, I decided to go for a middle part today. I got my inspiration from Nicole Richie, when you parts her hair in the middle and twists her bangs and pins them to each side. I thought it was adorable and a great way to get my bangs out of my face! I was a little self-conscious during the beginning of the day, but it started to grow on me! Anyways to finish off my boho look I decided to wear a lovely tribal patterned dress and similar patterned flats. I wore the red top underneath to raise the neckline. This red top was last seen here.

What do you think about middle parts?

Bright days at Gray's

what i wore: crochet and purple floral dress from Tea and Tulips, navy blue cross body bag thrifted, "Half Lens" vintage inspired round sunnies from OC Shades, teal tube top from Wet Seal, braided belt from Target, yellow gladiator sandals from Walmart

My friend Lauren and I spent part of her last day here at Gray's Lake, walking around, exploring, taking pictures and talking about art. She's working for her dad's landscaping business this summer so she'll be back here on weekends, which is awesome! I also recently found out that Blink 182 is coming to Des Moines, and I am so excited about that!

Remember this dress? I am in love with this dress. I'd say it's about the perfect summer dress and it's not even summer yet. I bought it from Steffy of Steffy's Pros and Cons from her Tea and Tulips shop. I style it with a bright teal tube top underneath and to compliment the purple I chose bright yellow sandals. These are my new favorite sunglasses as well, I love the dual tones.

What I've been eating lately

The first set of pictures are Chinese buns. There is the barbeque pork bun and the one with the yellow filling is made of egg yolk, coconut milk and sugar. They are so delicious! The next set of pictures are of a Vietnamese dish. I'm not sure how to spell it out in English, but there are mini eggrolls, lettuce, white noodles, and some barbequed/grilled pork.

What have you eaten lately? Anything unique?

And when it rains on this side of town

what i wore: Baku wedges in bark roughout canvas from Blowfish, dark denim appearance leggings and light taupe button up from Forever 21, red Southwestern style print vest thrifted, black tights from Target, and light brown braided bel

I just bought and received these adorable Baku wedges in the mail from Blowfish and I am already in love with them. They are so comfortable and add a little height. They really stood out in this outfit even with my loud vest. Speaking of this vest, isn't it adorable? I dug it up in a bin at Goodwill, and I am in love with it. It's so adorable, and I decided to add it to a simple outfit. I think that this vest will be a favorite in my closet! I have so many ideas of how to wear it!

Of course, I jumped at the chance to tote around my lovely koi/goldfish umbrella, last seen here. I hope you all are ready for another giveaway soon! Keep your eyes peeled!

Everything is green

what i wore: floral patterend cut-out shoulder top from Forever 21, navy cross body purse and beige accordion skirt thrifted, chain headband from Target, Seychelles Hawk wedges in whiskey from Endless, and wig from ebay

Hello my lovely readers! These pictures are from Thursday. Lauren and I decided to take these pictures on a trail behind the Art Center. It was beautiful! It was a fairly cloudy day but we still managed to get some beautiful shots. This top was last seen here and I just adore the print and the open arms/shoulders. I paired it with this lovely beige skirt I thrifted this week on my outing with Megan after her interview and photoshoot, you can read her post here!

Anyways, today was the first day I have ever worn a wig because i was having such a dreadful hair day, I had no idea what to do with it! I bought this wig a while back from ebay, and right as I put it on I felt like a princess! It's so nice getting rid of those bangs without having to pull my hair back basically! I might have to try this more. It was a little itchy and took a little getting adjusted to it, but I actually might wear it out again!

I did not post a lot of pictures of Lauren, because like I've said before, I want her to do a spotlight, and we might use this photoshoot, but as of right now I am unsure! So we'll see! You will see more pictures of her though!Oh, and if any of you were wondering, I got straight As this last semester! :)

Anyways, what do you think of the wig? Would you wear one?
